Development Engineer

The person will ideally have worked in a medical device / diagnostic business with:

  • Design understanding and an appreciation of implication for manufacture
  • Reasonable knowledge of materials: plastic films, adhesives, membranes etc.
  • Experience in prototype fabrication where repetitive manufacture of consistent products in required.
  • Knowledge of development of pilot manufacturing processes in conjunction with equipment vendors.
  • Understanding of the importance that quality methodology plays in medical products

The job will entail:

  • Conceptual design and fabrication of disposable test strips
  • Optimising design from a physical performance and assembly standpoint
  • Working closely with colleagues involved with the reagent development to ensure the design functions as a sensor.
  • Creating a design and manufacturing specification.
  • Proof of manufacturing feasibility.
  • Developing a pilot manufacturing process in conjunction with equipment vendors, this is likely to involve overseas travel.

We anticipate that suitable candidates will have a science-based degree, or other appropriate technical qualification.

Although you will be expected to work closely with management and colleagues in development, this role will require a person that can develop their own ideas and transfer them to practise. As the company expands there will be excellent opportunities for the right individual to grow with the business.

The position will report to the Science Director. We are seeking a person willing to work full time: 9-5 as well as overtime as needed.
