
Rolf Classon
Chairman
Rolf Classon has been Chairman of Vivacta since 2006. He has an unrivalled track record and a wealth of experience in the diagnostics industry having been Chairman of the Executive Committee at Bayer Healthcare, a $10 billion subsidiary of Bayer AG, and before that President of Bayer Diagnostics. He remained on the Bayer Healthcare Supervisory Board until 2009. Rolf Classon was also a director of Millipore until its sale to Merck KGaA in 2010. Previously Rolf held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer at Pharmacia Biosystems AB. He joined Pharmacia in 1969 and became President of its Hospital Products Division in 1981. He currently serves as non-executive Chairman of Hill-Rom Corporation, Auxilium Pharmaceuticals and Tecan Group.
Jonathan Gee
Director
Jonathan Gee has over 20 years experience working with IP-driven high growth technology companies as an investor and board member and as Chief Executive of technology exploitation companies. Jonathan is responsible for SPARK Ventures’ healthcare and life sciences investment activities. He led SPARK’s investment in GlycArt Biotechnology, which was then acquired by Roche for over £100m in July 2005. Prior to joining SPARK, Jonathan was Chief Executive of Imperial College Innovations where he was responsible for spinning out University start up companies, and served on the board of eight companies including Microscience Ltd, acquired by NYSE quoted Emergent Technologies. Jonathan has an operational background in marketing in the diagnostics industry from his previous role as International Product Group Manager for Unilever’s successful OTC testing company, Unipath.
Paddy Greenwood
Director
Paddy Greenwood played instrumental role in incubating Vivacta prior to its successful first-round financing in 2006. Paddy’s previous experience includes the role of Group Managing Director at diagnostic instrument designer and manufacturer Integrated Technologies Ltd (ITL). He spent 20 years at Coopers and Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers) as manager, senior manager and partner, and served on several of the firm's national committees. He also runs his own consulting practice, advising Rock Capital Group Plc, a property and financial services group managing a £350m portfolio. He was also on the board of its predecessor, Rock Investment Trust Plc.
Gerry Moeller
Director
Gerry Moeller has more than 30 years of management experience in the diagnostic and pharmaceutical industries. He is an Industry Advisor to HBM Bioventures, a Swiss-based VC firm. He is the Chairman of 4sigma Ltd, Pelikan Technologies Inc, MTM Laboratories AG, Invendo Medical GmbH, Morphosys AG and FIND (Foundation of New Innovative Diagnostics). He is a member of the Board of Bionostics Inc and Illumina Inc. Gerry was Chairman of Powderject Plc and Brahms AG until they were acquired. He was previously Chief Executive of the Boehringer Mannheim Group and, after its acquisition, joined the management board of Roche, up to 1998.
Werner Schaefer
Director
Werner Schaefer has over 35 years experience in the diagnostics sector. His previous positions include: President and Chief Operating Officer of Behring Diagnostics USA; Director Area Operations & Scientific Development for Abbott Diagnostics GMBH; and President of the Lab Systems Business Unit at Roche which then had sales of $1.5 billion and a headcount of over 2,000. Dr Schaefer is a member of the Board of Neuroptix, mtm labs AG and Human GmbH.
Gerard Vaillant
Director
Gerard Vaillant has held prestigious roles in the healthcare sector including Group Chairman of Johnson & Johnson Diagnostics, Chairman of Ortho Clinical Diagnostics and Therakos, and President of Lifescan. Since leaving J&J, Dr Vaillant has served on the board of directors of Sensors for Medicine and Science, Luminex and Tecan.
